Weldon Borland, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on August 4, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born on January 9, 1943, in Rockingham County, North Carolina, to Jesse and Mildred Borland, both of whom preceded him in death.
Weldon was the loving husband of Margaret LaVerne Borland (née Shreve), with whom he shared 26 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and memories. Weldon was a dedicated family man, and his greatest joy was spending time with his loved ones, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Weldon is survived by his children: Jesse Lee Borland (Regina) of Wade, NC; Kimberly Borland Young (Kim Edward Young) of Cameron, NC; and Stephanie Melissa Newton of Fayetteville, NC. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Chris Riggs of Summerfield, NC, and Darrel Farmer (Debbie) of Laurel Springs, NC. He was the proud grandfather to Christian, Britney, Janet, Rachele, Heather, Elizabeth, Calista, Jaimie, Leah, and Darrin, and a doting great-grandfather to 17 great-grandchildren.
Weldon served his country with honor in the United States Air Force for 23 years, attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant (TSGT E-6). He proudly served during the Vietnam War and received numerous commendations, including two Oak Leaf Clusters and the Air Force Commendation Medal. Weldon's dedication to service and his country was a cornerstone of his life, and he was a proud member of Harmony Baptist Church.
Known for his larger-than-life personality, Weldon was a toy collector with a special fondness for Donald Duck. He enjoyed people-watching and was never shy to strike up a conversation with anyone, whether he knew them or not. His sense of humor and storytelling made him the life of any gathering. He was especially known for entertaining his grandchildren with life stories and playful antics, always seeking to surprise them with something new.
Weldon's family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in ensuring that his wife, LaVerne, was well taken care of. He was a "big kid" at heart, full of energy and enthusiasm, always ready to make memories with his loved ones.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 1:00 PM on August 9, 2025, at Adcock Funeral Home and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Harmony Baptist Church Building Fund, 3566 NC Hwy 210 South, Bunnlevel, NC 28323.
