Stephen Patrick "Pat" Smith, 83, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026.

Pat was born on Saturday, August 8, 1942, in Cumberland County, North Carolina, to the late Joseph Raymond Smith and Dorothy Clark Pope.

Pat is survived by his daughter, Kimberley S. Lawler; son, Troy Smith; sisters, Cindy Knox, Patricia Giles, Dottie Ulecki, Theresa Dzialo; eight grandchildren, 12 grandchildren and his former wife Patricia Webb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Rhinehart Simmons.

A hardworking man by nature, Pat was a mechanic, a trade that matched his love for working with his hands. He had a gift for understanding how things fit together and took pride in a good honest days work. Whether he was under the hood of a car or crafting a something from scratch, Pat found satisfaction in building, fixing, and creating. He liked NASCAR and enjoyed the thrill of each race, but also found peace any time he could go fishing. In quieter moments, he could often be found building birdhouses, blending patience, skill, and care into each piece. Pat will certainly be remembered for his steady presence, his work ethic, and the quiet ways he showed love through the things he made and the life he lived.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at New Hope Baptist Church, Spring Lake. Services entrusted to Adcock Funeral Home and Crematory, Spring Lake.
