John Allen Dalto, 90, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2024 at home surrounded by his family & friends.
He was born January 21, 1934, in Lansing, OH, son of the late John Alexander and Mary Vavrock Dalto.
John was a Carpenter for over 30+ years, a U.S. Army Veteran, and member of Hope United Methodist Church.
He was an avid champion bowler who loved fishing, working with wood & creating amazing pieces. He also liked playing horseshoes, cornhole, and working on puzzles. He would help anyone at the drop of a hat and was a member of a group called RG Guys at Hope Church who would go out and do work projects when there was a need. He loved telling jokes and teasing people to make them laugh. He truly loved his family, especially his grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Carl Dalto; and sister, Dorothy Johnston.
John is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Diane Dalto; daughter, Janet (Bruce) Dunn; son, Jim Ryder; six grandchildren, Josh (Jordan) Stevens, Lauren (Cole) Elliott, Lindsey (Logan) Schramm, Jason (Brittany) Dunn, and Christian & Halen Ryder; five great-grandchildren, Avery, Lyra, Embrie, Gemma & Kasen.
Friends will be received Monday, February 19, 2024 from 10 AM until the time of service at 12 PM at Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger St, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311) with Ron Gamble officiating and the Moundsville Veteran Honor Guard performing military honors.
A luncheon will be held after services at Hope United Methodist Church, 99 Valley Blvd, Wheeling, WV 26003.
Memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys Home Health Care, 215 Warwood Ave, Wheeling, WV 26003, and Hope United Methodist Church, 99 Valley Blvd, Wheeling, WV 26003.
