A memorial service for John Charles "Perk" Daugherty, 79, of Edgewood, TX, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 18, 2025, at Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.

Charles passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at his home lovingly surrounded by his family.

Charles Daugherty was born on July 3, 1946, to parents John Perry Daugherty and Mayoma M. Upchurch Daugherty. He was a lifelong resident of the Edgewood community and a graduate of Edgewood High School. On June 6, 1969, Charles married the love of his life, Jo Ann Shelby.

He worked as a field technician for the Texas Department of Transportation for more than 30 years before retiring. Charles was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Edgewood. He enjoyed spending time outdoors-whether hunting, fishing, or working around his home. Known for his friendly nature, Charles loved visiting with people and especially enjoyed riding motorcycles with Jo Ann, his brother-in-law, and his sister.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Perry and Mayoma M. Daugherty; brothers, Johnny Daugherty and Norman Daugherty; step-brothers, Ray Johnson and Raymond Johnson; sister, Levye "Sis" Crim White; grandchild, Tristen Cash Cooper; nephew, Freddy Daugherty; and son-in-law, Ron Hopson.

Charles is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Daugherty of Edgewood, TX; son, Jesse Daugherty and wife Jennifer of Edgewood, TX; daughters, Tammy Cooper of Edgewood, TX, and Lisa Overton and husband Ray of Edgewood, TX; brother, Nolan Daugherty and wife Ann of Wills Point, TX; grandchildren, Chance Cooper, Shelby Hopson, Levi Overton, Jayce Daugherty, Clay Cooper, and Jaylee Daugherty; great-grandchild, Lawson Lane Nace; and dear friends, Phil and Melissa Parks.
