John Day Iii Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holman-Howe Funeral Homes Lebanon on May 3, 2025.
John E. Day, III was born December 28, 1955 in Ozark, Missouri to John E. Day, II and Glenda Marie Stevens Day. He passed away Friday, May 2, 2025 in his home in Phillipsburg, Missouri. He was sixty-nine years, four months and five days of age.
He grew up in Chadwick, Missouri and graduated from Chadwick High School. He began riding horses and bulls when he was a young man and was active in the rodeo circuit. He worked as a cow hand and enjoyed working with cattle. He loved the cowboy life and working on the farm and will be remembered for being a very good cowboy. He was also a big animal lover and trainer.
On April 12, 1987, John was united in marriage to Sheila Chaves.
John is preceded in death by his father, John Day, II.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Sheila; three daughters, Joey Day of Sparta, Missouri, Julie Henry and her husband Jeff of Seymour, Missouri and Jill Gault and her husband Joe of Shell Knob, Missouri; his mother, Marie Day; three grandchildren, Kelby Humble and his wife Allison, Karli Henry and Anna Howerton; two great-grandchildren, Hadley and Haston Humble; two sisters, Jackie Ewing and her husband Scott of Oldfield, Missouri and Kathy Bowser and her husband Ted of Nowata, Oklahoma; one brother, David Day and his wife Jeri of Brown Branch, Missouri; and other relatives and friends.
John was employed by Asplundh Tree Service for many years. This was a good job for him as he enjoyed being outdoors so much.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was known to be an avid outdoorsman. His life rotated around his family and friends and he always looked forward to spending time with them.
As we bid farewell to John, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by an enduring commitment to his family and his life as a cowboy. He had a zest for adventure that will continue to inspire all who knew him. John's memory will be treasured forever in the hearts of his family, friends and the many lives he touched.
