John M. De Witt

John M. De Witt, of Farmington NY, passed unexpectedly, but peacefully, at home on December 26, 2024, at the age of 84.
Predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Lillian De Witt, as well as his sister, Ellen.
Survived by his wife just two months shy of 64 years together, Lanah De Witt; daughters, Kimberly (William) Lawrence, and Kelly De Witt; grandchildren: Holly (Christopher) Estey, Daniel (Sara Stanton) Harris, Laura (Lawrence) Ashley, and Savannah Swarthout; great-grandchildren: Livia, Auria, Xander, Airabelle, Loghan, Lucius, Lennox, Ellery; and Sara's children, Jackson and Scarlett; brother, Lewis (Naomi) De Witt; sister, Mary Osburn.
John was known for his automotive expertise as owner of "John's Service" station as well as "Anytime, Anywhere Towing and Service". A respected and involved member of the community, he also served as president of the Chamber of Commerce in 1976, and was influential in the lives of many young men in the area. John had a personality only those close enough to him understood, tough love was his best form of love, he was never too shy to share his opinions no matter the topic of conversation. He will be remembered for his admirable work ethic even if that meant he was incapable of resting when told to do so. His ability to sing a little song about any few words said in his presence. He is loved by many and will be remembered by many more.
