John "Butch" DeVito
September 4, 1943 - June 3, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John "Butch" DeVito, who departed this life unexpectedly at the age of 81. Born on September 4, 1943, John was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Angelina DeVito and long time companion Barbara Tuturro. John is survived by four devoted daughters, JoAnne DeVito Robbins, Michelle Belaire and husband Darin of Sulphur, Vicki Chaddrick and husband Marlon of Turkey Creek, Terry Saltzman and husband Brent of Sulphur, and one loving son, John Eric DeVito of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a sister, Antoinette Close of Long Island, New York, niece Barbara Host and husband Rob of Long Island, New York, nephews Joe Close and wife Therese of Long Island, New York, Frank Close and wife Rita of Long Island, New York, 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren. His presence will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
John worked most of his life as a roofing contractor. In his retirement years he was known for his creativity and passion, John had a unique love for crafting "event music bottles"-a heartfelt hobby that combined his artistic spirit with a love of celebration and memories. His creations brought joy to many and will remain treasured keepsakes of the man who poured his heart into everything he did.
A family led celebration of John's life will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm at Bodega Restaurant and Wine Bar located at 3505 Country Club Road, Lake Charles, Louisiana 70605.
