John T. Dickman Sr.,77, of Delphos, passed away at Mercy Health-St. Rita's at 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. He was born June 30, 1944, in Lima to Dick and Helen (Kraft) Dickman who preceded him in death. On September 24, 1963, he was united in marriage to Ruth M. Beair who survives in Delphos.
John Sr. is also survived by three children, John Jr. (Bethany) Dickman, Helen "Sis" Schlosser and Mary "Lou" (Joe) Goodwin, all of Delphos; five grandkids, Sheena Sellers of Ottoville, John III (Rachel) Dickman of TN, Tabitha (Cory) Williams of FL, Dylan (Beth Yates) Schlosser of Melrose, and Kelsey (Jay) Hanes of Delphos; ten great-grandkids, Noah, Luke, Ella, Summer, Jack, Jake, Ryan, Myla, Camden, and Riley; one sister, Jean (Ray) Beair, and two dogs, Cocoa and Jr. Boy and the late Holly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dale (Doris) Dickman, and Dick (Betty) Dickman.
He loved his three dogs and the many more that he would watch for family and friends. He had a revolving door when it came to pets.
John worked as a welder at Fruehauf for 28 years until they closed the doors. He then retired from Newman as a truck driver. He is a lifetime member of the Delphos Eagles Aerie #471 and lifetime member of the Delphos VFW Post 3035.
John loved cutting wood with his brother-in-law, Tom Ward Sr. He also enjoyed flea markets and playing cards with the Evans. He loved spending time at his son's place to hang with his buddy Bruce and many more friends and to watch the pets. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Rudy, with whom he had 58 years of marriage, and all his kids, pets and friends.
Memorial Services were held at Harter and Schier Funeral Home on Thursday, October 14, 2021, with a private viewing. Burial of cremains will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
