John Thurman Dicler

John Thurman Dicler, 75, of Marion, OH, went home to be with the Lord on February 1, 2022, leaving the side of his family and loved ones at the Marion General Hospital. On June 16, 1946, he was born to the late Harold Franklin Dicler and Alma Alberta Telljohann in St. Mary's, OH. On October 2, 1965, he would marry the love of his life, Jane Louise Kuhlman at the United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, OH.
John was a hardworking man of faith and family. He started his work career in 1962, working for Kroger for 26 years as a store manager before starting his own business, Southtown Cleaning Village, in 1989. Before opening his business, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War where he received a National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the Community of Christ in Westerville, OH. In his free time, he loved to spend it with his family, going on vacation and taking trips to Las Vegas and Florida, and showing up for any of his grandchildren's activities. He also enjoyed boating.
John is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law; Lawrence and Zella Kuhlman, brother; Harold E. Dicler, brother-in-law Richard Apple, sisters-in-law; Marcia Apple, Sharon (Harold) Dicler, and Allie Kuhlman, and granddaughter; Hannah Dicler.
He survived by his wife, son; Kevin J. (Michelle) Dicler of Gahanna, daughter; Shelli (Greg) Lust of Morral, OH, sister; Wilda (Ron) Nott of Marion, OH, brother-in-law; William Kuhlman of Van Wert, OH, grandchildren; Aaron (Shelby) Lust, Derek Lust, Jacob Dicler, Elizabeth Dicler, and 2 nephews and 4 nieces.
The family would like to invite John's loved ones and friends for visiting hours at the Boyd Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the funeral service. The funeral service will take place at the Boyd Funeral Home on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 12 p.m. The interment service will take place immediately following at the Marion Cemetery. Elder Samuel Alan Hunt and Daniel Hoover will be officiating all services. The Dicler family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Prakash and the Marion General Hospital (2 North) for taking exceptional care of John in his time of need. The family would like all donations on John's behalf to be made out to the Community of Christ, located at 583 Africa Rd., P.O. Box 781, Westerville, OH 43081.
