John Dean Dingeman, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully in his home on August 11, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on January 13, 1950, in Urbandale, Iowa, John lived a life marked by deep faith, humble service, and heartfelt devotion to his family and community.
In his youth, John enjoyed working on motorcycles and cars, but his true passion was spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. A faithful servant of the Lord, John found joy in leading others to Christ and serving as a deacon in his church. He was a beacon of faithfulness, often writing songs and poems about his faith and honoring others who had gone home to Heaven.
The son of a preacher man, John was a simple man who loved working with his hands-repairing and restoring things with a unique touch only he could give. He spent many years employed with the Des Moines Parks Department, where he made a name for himself through dedication and hard work.
John also loved to fish and valued the peace and reflection it brought him. His life was a testimony to the power of faith, perseverance, and humble living.
He is survived by his loving wife, Earleen Dingeman; Children: John Paul (Krista) Dingeman, Jennifer (Chris) McCarl, Kevin Dingeman, Jill Dingeman; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren, siblings: Jim (Lynnae) Dingeman and Della McBride.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Elenor Dingeman; grandson, John Lucas Dingeman; his brothers, Don and Bill Dingeman; and his sister, Dolores Collins.
A visitation will be held at Greater Love Church of God in Christ, 1440 DeWolf St., Des Moines, IA 50316, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Oralabor Cemetery, 515 SE Oralabor Rd Ankeny, Iowa 50021
John's legacy of faith, kindness, and service will live on in the many lives he touched.
