John Deewayne Downing, a dedicated and skilled certified body mechanic, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, in Spavinaw, Oklahoma, at the age of 77. Born on September 29, 1947, in Claremore, Oklahoma, John spent his formative years in a close-knit community where he displayed his athletic talents at Sequoyah High School, excelling in football, basketball, and track.
For twenty years, John made a significant impact at Southside Body Shop in Tahlequah, where his craftsmanship and commitment to quality earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike. His passion for his work was evident, and he dedicated his life to perfecting the art of body mechanics.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John cherished quiet moments with his beloved dogs and enjoyed playing dominoes with friends. He found profound joy in caring for his mother before her passing, exemplifying the love and dedication he carried for his family.
John's spirituality was an essential part of his life, and he took pride in accepting the Lord as his savior shortly before his passing. He joins 6 Siblings that have gone before him and leaves behind three loving sisters who will remember him fondly and treasure the memories they created together throughout their lives
A visitation in his honor will take place at Shipman's Funeral & Cremation Service in Pryor, Oklahoma, on August 7, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. John's funeral service will be held the following day, August 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Ribbon Cemetery in Spavinaw, Oklahoma.
John Deewayne Downing will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to his work, and profound love for family and friends. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
