John Fleming (Jack) Duffey, 87, formerly of Barre, VT passed away December 17, 2025, surrounded by the caring staff at Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, NH.
Born September 17, 1938, to Earl and Maxine (Ladd) Duffey in Montpelier, VT. Attending School in Montpelier and being an Honorary member of the Class of 1958 from St. Michael's High School.
Jack joined the Marine Corps Reserves while in High School and decided that since he liked it so much, joined the Marine Corps and headed to Parris Island, SC on August 28, 1958, just twenty days shy of his twentieth birthday. He would serve a total of seven years, four months, and twenty-six days. Being stationed in the Phillipines, Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam, Twenty-nine Palms, CA and his final Duty Station at Camp Lejeune, NC were always his treasured memories that would become great stories. He was always so proud of his "Glorious Corps" and loved being a Veteran.
Survivors include his sister, Starr Hughmanic (Edward) of Toms River, NJ. His Daughters, Louise Duffey-Hayes (Thomas Dorr) of Pittsford, VT, Becky Chadwick (Ronald) of Waterbury Center, VT and his son Daniel Duffey (Andrew Chock) of Barre, VT. Survivors also include Matthew Dunkling, a very close family friend. His Grandchildren, Ryan, Krystal, Brock, Kyle and Joshua, as well as Great-grandchildren Remington, Kayleigh, Akira and Colten. Nieces and Nephews. Jack was pre-deceased by his parents, his sisters, Kathleen Pearl and Anna Herbert (William) and also brother-in-law Edward Hughmanic.
A Funeral Mass and Committal, with full Military Honors will take place in June 2026 at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you to donate to the Grafton County Home Association, 3855 Dartmouth College Hwy, North Haverhill, NH 03774 in his memory.
