John J. Durkin, 70, of Bayville, NJ, formerly of Arizona, passed away on March 7, 2025. He was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ and recently resided in Bayville. While living in Arizona for numerous years, John worked as a Mail Handler and Supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service. He enjoyed drawing, painting, cooking, baking and always seemed to be doing a project around the house. John was active in the deaf community and a communicant of St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church in Bayville.
Predeceased by his siblings, Mary Jardot, Dennis Tracey and Tom Tracey. John is survived by his brother, James Durkin and his wife Buzzy, nephews, Ryan Higgins and his wife Brandi, JP Durkin and his wife Maria, Spencer Durkin and his wife Mindy, nieces Erin Durkin, Beth Tracey and her husband Kevin, Tara Taylor and her husband Justin and partner Jouda Daniels along with many great nieces and great nephews.
A Viewing will be held on Thursday, March 13th, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 pm & 6:00-8:00 pm and Friday, March 14th from 9:30-10:30 am at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Rt. 9, Forked River, NJ 08731. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 11:00 am at St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church, 33 Woodland Road, Bayville, NJ 08721. Private cremation.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, ATTN: Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 5041, Boone, IA 50950.
