Vincent John Mari

Vincent J. Mari, 81, of Forked River, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on August 21, 2025.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Grace and Tony Mari, Vincent lived a life full of love, dedication, and flavor. He raised his family in Point Pleasant, NJ before settling in Forked River for the last decade.

Vincent proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. As a young man, he worked alongside his father in the family's restaurant, The Seven Stars, where his love for food and hospitality first took root. That passion led him to open his own pizzeria, Steverino's, in Toms River, NJ-an inviting spot where he employed many family members and friends over the years. Vincent was a proud and dedicated business owner who touched many lives through food and friendship.

Although food was a true passion, the great love of his life was Gladys Mari. High school sweethearts since the ages of 16 and 14, their love thrived through 60 years of marriage. Together, they built a home that was filled with warmth, laughter, and love.

A big part of that was because Vincent's heart was enormous. His laughter could fill a room, and his joking, light-hearted personality made everyone feel welcome. Whether crafting his signature recipes or talking with loved ones, he found true joy in bringing people together at the table. Vincent was a communicant and a devoted catholic of St. Martha Roman Catholic Church and St. Pius X RC Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Gladys Mari, his son, Vincent and wife Svetlana, daughter Beth Subokow and her husband Edward, daughter Francine Dimter and her husband Matthew and grandchildren Shannon, Colleen, Francesca, Samantha, Brody, Dylan, Gleb and Nadya, great-grandchildren Bella, Alex and Lucas, brothers Carl and his wife Lyn and John and his wife Judy along with many nieces and nephews. Vincent is predeceased by his brother, Anthony Mari.

Vincent will be remembered for his love of family, perseverance, and zest for life.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27th from 6:00-8:00 pm and again on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 am at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Rt. 9, Forked River, NJ 08731. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 11:00 am at St. Pius X RC Church, 300 Lacey Rd., Forked River, NJ 08731. Private cremation.
