JOHN LOUIS DURR

APRIL 21, 1937 – SEPTEMBER 15, 2025

John Durr of Delafield, WI passed away peacefully on September 15 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. John was born in Milwaukee on April 21, 1937. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Andrew Durr and Elizabeth Ludwig Durr and his Uncle Otto Ludwig. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Judith (Judie), along with numerous other relatives and friends.

John graduated from North Division High School in Milwaukee and earned his bachelor's degree from Lakeland College attending evening classes for many years. John retired from Navistar (formerly International Harvester), Waukesha, WI in 1999 where he worked as an accountant.

John liked to stay active and was always on the go. He was a member of various health and fitness clubs throughout his life, where he exercised almost every day. He also loved being outdoors, enjoying biking, hiking, and cross-country skiing. He especially enjoyed swimming, water skiing, rowing, and windsurfing when living on Pewaukee Lake.

John enjoyed watching his dogs work in the field. He spent countless hours hunting and hiking with his former Yellow Labs, Tawny, Shammy, and Thor and most recently with our Black Lab, Freddie. John was a long-time member of Wern Valley Sportsmen's Club.

John liked socializing and having a beer with his friends at Wern Valley and the American Legion in Delafield.

A special thanks to Accent Hospice Care for keeping John comfortable and safe during his final days.

In keeping John's wishes, no formal services will be held.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Lupus Foundation of America and Humane Animal Welfare Society - HAWS of Waukesha County.
