John Dziubla Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Homes - Chesterton Chapel on Feb. 6, 2024.
John S. Dziubla, age 84, of Chesterton, IN, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, with his loving family by his side, in Chesterton, IN. He was a beloved great-grandfather, grandfather, father, husband and friend, who will be missed by all who knew him. Those who were close to him referred to him by his street name, GGPA. He made sure to tell his grandchildren often that he had earned a "street name".
John was born on November 5, 1939, in Gary, IN, to Frank and Julia (Gielarowski) Dziubla, and was reared in Hobart, IN. He graduated from Hobart High School and went on to join the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Tachikawa Air Base. He was honorably discharged in 1967 to care for his ailing mother and little sister, Mary Agnes Dziubla, who passed away in 1995. He loved his time in Japan and in the Air Force and reminisced about it during his final days. Japan is where he met his wife, Mie Ueno. They married on July 15, 1964. She preceded him in death in 2019. When John returned home with his wife, he secured an excellent position with Bethlehem Steel as a Foreman. John retired with full benefits, wonderful memories, and many friends in 2005. He enjoyed relaying stories to his family about his colleagues and their shenanigans. Throughout his career he was known for his hard work, dedication and sense of humor.
John is survived by his children, Ronald and wife of Burbank, CA and Julia (Travis) Nay of Chesterton, IN; three grandchildren, Brenna Farrell (Armando Fulgencio), Amalia Escalante and Nova Dziubla, and the newest joy of his life, his great-grandson, Mateo Santos Fulgencio. He was preceded in death by wife; parents; and sister, Mary A Dziubla.
A celebration of John and Mieko's life together will be held for family and friends. Please contact the family for details. Arrangements made by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.ee-fh.com.
