John was born on September 1, 1964 to the late Leonard and Verna (Schultz) Ernst. He was a 1982 graduate of Two Rivers High School. He then went on to earn a culinary degree from Fox Valley Technical College. John worked as a chef, starting his career at the Lighthouse Inn. John cherished spending time with his sister, brothers and their families, and he enjoyed playing tennis in his younger days, boating, fishing with his brothers and riding his electric bike.
John is survived by his siblings: James (Sharon) Ernst, Terry (Lana) Ernst, William (Michelle) Ernst, Robert (Laurie Becker) Ernst, Richard (Barb) Ernst, and Sandy (Jeff) Wachowski; nieces and nephews: Patrick (Marilyn) Ernst, Scot (Karli) Ernst, Kerry (Keith Dax) Rivest, Rebecca (Mark Gordon) Ernst, Erica (Mark) Weber, Tiffany Ernst, Craig (Beth) Ernst, Thomas (Elizabeth) Anderson, Kimberly (Christopher) Cremeans, Dustin Wachowski, and Brandon (Sadie) Wachowski; Uncle: Dale Schultz and his lifelong best friend: Guy Holtz. He is further survived by numerous great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents: Leonard and Verna Ernst, sister-in-law: Elizabeth Campanaro; nephew: Jason Ernst, and numerous aunts and uncles.
A Memorial Service to celebrate John's life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, 1420 22nd St., Two Rivers, at 12:00 pm with Rev. Mark Schmitt officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm. Inurnment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Aurora BayCare, Aurora Two Rivers, and Riverbends for all their care and compassion towards John.

Jonny was the best. Bought my first 3 guns off John. Worked with him In pompano beach for a long time. Always happy hard to upset. Jonny was one of the hardest working guys I ever met back in the day. He made an impression on a lot of people. Forever grateful for all the meals he cooked for me. And his legendary story from one of his hospital visits in 2006. Ill see you soon sir.

I wish to extend my condolences to the Ernest family. Although I didn't know John, I know Terry and Bill. It is always hard when you lose a sibling as they have been a part of your entire life. Share and remember the wonderful times together. God's Blessings to all of you.

I´m so sorry to hear of John´s passing. I was assigned at times to be his driver for medical appts. It was such a pleasure to talk about biking, electric bikes, and some of his past adventures with him. I´ll miss seeing him on Memorial Drive.
