Mr. John C. Estep, age 85 of Axton, Virginia passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. He was born in Hurley, Virginia on February 8, 1939, to the late Ellis Estep and Bessie Estep. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Danny Estep and Donnie Estep; and two brothers, Ellis Junior Estep and Billy Estep. John was a mason and a member at Alexandria Washington Lodge #22. He was proud of his welding career with the D.C. Iron Workers Union with 25 years of service. He was an avid farmer and enjoyed working in his garden. He was the most wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who rarely missed a sporting event of his grandchildren. The joy of his life was caring and helping to raise his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Faye Little Estep of the home; one son, Lowell Wayne Estep of Axton, VA; four grandchildren, Sheri Marlowe (Preston), Dane Estep, Cory Estep, Brittany Cassada (Jon Paul); eleven, Brooklyn, Eben, Cole, Reese, Pyper, Sawyer, Sam, Kohen, Ezra, Sutton, and Gabria; daughter-in-law, Hannah Estep of Cascade, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service of Mr. Estep will be held at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Shupe officiating. The burial will immediately follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mount Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church, 350 A. L. Philpott Highway, Axton, VA 24054.
