John G. Faskell, age 72, Township of Mukwa, passed away at his residence with his family by his side on Monday, May 5, 2025. He was born October 7, 1952, in New London, son of the late Bernard and Evalina (Paronto) Faskell.
He graduated May 21,1970 from Little Wolf High School and took over running the family dairy farm on May 23, 1970, at the age of 17. John ran the dairy farm until 1991 when he sold the cattle. He was very passionate about his family farmland and dedicated his time to enhancing wildlife habitat. John married his best friend, Elizabeth (Hill) Faskell, in 1973. In 1986, John started Get My Point Kennel with his German Wirehaired Pointers. John also designed and patented a dog transportation system in 2001, known as Canine Cargo Carriers. He continued to enjoy both dog businesses up until his death. In 1994, John and Elizabeth purchased two Subways, one in Hortonville and one in Seymour, and ran them for 24 years. On top of that, he worked at Akrosil in Neenah for 10 years. In 2000, he took a position as a ranch manager in Montana for one year. John became a Corrections Officer at the Oshkosh Corrections Facility in 2001 and worked there until retirement in 2018. John was a member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manawa.
John was an avid deer, upland bird, and waterfowl hunter. He was very passionate about habitat and outdoor conservation. His passion for the outdoors took him all over the country where he shared his experiences and knowledge with his children, grandchildren and many friends.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth; children: Paxton (Stacey) Faskell, Amber (Shane) Heinz, and Pace (Danielle) Faskell; grandchildren: Kindra, Eliotte, Russhell, Brett, Trace, Pierce, Johanna, Hayden, and Ezra; sister, Deborah (Steve) Schmick; sisters-in-law: Pam Giesen, Kathy Hill, Cindy (Mark) Harless; brothers-in-law: John (Trudy) Hill, David (Amy) Hill. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheena Faskell; grandson, Fenton Faskell; siblings: Gloria (Everett) Anderson, Sally (Bill) Stillman, Bernard "Jim" (Anna) Faskell, Eileen Stern, William Faskell, and Mary Smith; mother and father-in-law, Alfred and Opal Hill.
The Funeral Mass for John will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manawa with Fr. Kevin Ripley officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Dahlke Life Celebration Center in Manawa from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday prior to the service at the church from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m.
The family would like to thank all who came to visit John in his last days on the farm. They would also like to thank the physicians and nurses at Froedtert Hospital and the ThedaCare Hospice team for their compassionate care they provided. Special thanks to Fr. Kris for spiritual support.
