I worked with John 4 times in my career. He was quite a mentor for me and others who with John.
First - Twin Jet programs in Bldg 13. We were both first level quality managers. Then the Bldg 58 meeting and TQMS happened.
Second - Tri-Jet programs and production of the MD-11s, starting with the first 3 flight test aircraft. John was my Second Level Quality Manager there. I learned a lot of new quality and production roles there under John's leadership.
Third - FAA DMIR/ODAR Office where we interacted with the FAA Safety Inspector group directly and acted on behalf of the FAA in a designee roll. We had a great group there lead by John and Bob Rettberg.
Lastly - BAS/BDS/BGS programs. John was the Management DAR and he helped me obtain my Manufacturing DAR and work in post production projects around the world . I worked with John there until he retired.
We had some great times outside of work as well playing tennis, talking airplanes, and grandkids after I became a grandpa.
John was like my second father in my working career and for that I will be forever thankful to have known him.
