John Keith Fry was born July 25, 1940 in Frederick, Oklahoma to Dr. Francis Polk Fry and Dorothy Sims Fry. He was a 1958 graduate of Frederick High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Hardin-Simmons University in 1964 where was a member of HSU Golf team.
Keith married Sandra Grinstead July 25, 1964 at Rochester 1st Baptist Church.
From ages 4 to 8, Keith lived at St. Louis, Missouri School for the Deaf. Throughout his life he had a fascination with the military, especially WWII history. This stemmed from riding the train with the soldiers. He made trips by himself as a small child because gas was rationed. Keith had great stories from Philmont Scout Ranch, NM where he & brother Kirk spent many summers. Yearly trips to Gunnison, Colorado were special because he could fly fish with Kirk. During high school summers, Keith went on wheat harvest from Frederick, Oklahoma to Miles City, Montana and retold stories about those summers over and over.
Keith taught math and science starting in 1964 for Carney Rural School O'Brien, Snyder, Weinert, Rochester and Old Glory, retiring in 1987. He farmed and ranched in the Rochester area from 1964 to 2019.
