John Fuchs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dorman-Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home on Feb. 5, 2026.
John R. Fuchs, Sr., 83, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Savior on February 5, 2026, in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Born March 7, 1942, in Toronto, Canada to John and Ernestine Fuchs, John's life was guided by curiosity, dedication, and a gift for understanding complex systems. He pursued a career in aerospace engineering and spent many years with Boeing in Seattle, Washington, contributing his brilliance and expertise to a field that shapes flight and innovation worldwide.
John was married to his beloved wife, Judith, who preceded him in death. Together they built a life in Seattle rich in devotion and family with their beloved son, John Jr.
Beyond his professional achievements, John had a passion for renovating old homes and apartment buildings, finding joy in breathing new life into timeless structures. He also delighted in crafting detailed model trains and the towns that surrounded them-bringing communities to life on a miniature scale and sharing that joy with others.
In recent years, John shared many adventures while traveling with his son, John Jr, and his close friend and business partner of more than 30 years, Tim Allen. The three enjoyed life together exploring the country before ultimately making DeQuincy, Louisiana, their home in 2024. There, John found a warm and welcoming community of friends who soon became like cherished family.
He is survived by his son, John R. Fuchs, Jr., and his longtime friends, Tim Allen and Jeff Dodge, as well as a host of other friends.
John will be remembered for his brilliant mind, his generous heart, and his unwavering love of family and community.
Interment will take place at Riley Smith Memorial Park. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
