John Charles Galbreath, Sr. ObituaryJOHN CHARLES GALBREATH, SR., 71 of Street, MD, died unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, November 10, 2024 in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD on October 20, 1953, he was the only child of James W. Galbreath of Street, MD and the late Jeanne Lavonne (Winn) Galbreath who died in 2017.
John was a 1971 graduate of North Harford High School in Pylesville, MD and had worked for many decades at Hurley Screen Manufacturing as a machinist creating movie theater screens. Later he purchased the section of the business that repaired movie ticket machines and called the business: Galbreath Repair Service. One of his largest customers was Knoebels Amusement Park in Elysburg, PA. Most recently, he was the general "fixer" of anything that was requiring attention for the Highland Commons Building in Street. John also helped his father on the family farm. John was a longtime member of Highland Presbyterian Church where his family has worshipped for numerous generations.
In earlier years, when the family farm was in the dairy business, he was very active in the Maryland 4-H Program continuing a tradition of showing prize Ayrshire Cattle just as his father had exhibited. John will be remembered for his great sense of humor, supporting his sons in their activities and attending nearly all of their sporting events during their adolescence. He adored his granddaughter who brought joy to his life. His family commented that in the tradition of his caring spirit, John donated blood every other month for his entire adulthood. In his last moments, he was a donor and was able to grant numerous people hope as well as a chance at a longer life.
Left to mourn the loss in addition to his father,
Two sons-
