Doris Jean Galbreath, age 95, of Erie, passed away peacefully at Ball Pavilion on Thursday, October 2, 2025. She was born in Corsica, PA on October 21, 1929, daughter of the late John and Bessie Hindman.
Grammie Dorie is survived by three sons, Ron Galbreath (Sheryl), Don Galbreath and Jim Galbreath. She is further survived by 11 grandchildren, Michael (Kelly), Daniel (Danielle), Randy (Carrie), Katelyn, Rob and Miranda Galbreath, Sara Harris (Randy), Jenesia Buschman (Justin), Brady O'Leary (Stephanie), and Cassandra (Ally) and Max Galbreath; one sister, Maxine Galbraith and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ray; three sisters; two brothers; and one grandson, Ryan Galbreath.
Doris grew up on a dairy farm in Corsica, PA and she loved telling stories of her farm life. She never was without a story and a smile. Doris was employed at Sylvania in Brookville after she graduated, then moved with her husband to Erie and worked for State Farm Insurance for many years, retiring from Hamot clerical at 80 years old.
Doris was an avid baker, always had treats for her boys and all the neighbor kids. She loved to feed people. We will miss the hamballs, chocolate chip cookies, apple pie and peanut butter rolls. Doris never missed a family party; jumped out of a plane at 78 years old and rode a jet-ski. She was passionate about ironing YES! Everything that came out of the dryer got ironed.
Doris will most be remembered for her positive outlook in life, her kind heart and bright smile. She was loved by her family, friends and the staff and residents at Ball Pavilion.
Yes Mom, you can have your lipstick in heaven.
Heartfelt thanks to all my co-workers at Ball Pavilion. The care and love you all gave Mom and our family will never be forgotten.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Monday, October 6th, from 4 pm until the time of the Funeral Service there at 6 pm. Condolences may be sent to www.dusckasfuneralhomes.com.
