On Tuesday, the 5th of November 2024, John Ray Gallow departed this life at the age of 79, in The Guardian House Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born on October 20, 1945, to Joseph Gallow and Severine Guillory Gallow in Mowata, LA. He graduated from Washington High School in 1963 and immediately entered the United States Air Force. He served as an Air-force policeman until his honorable discharge in 1967. He married Sylvia Washington on June 22, 1968. He began working as an operator at Cit-Con Refinery in 1970. He dedicated 34 years of service to Citgo and retired as an operator supervisor. John was always known as a quiet and humble man. He exuded kindness and compassion to everyone. He was also a man that believed in service and helping any and everyone in need. Above all, he loved and cherished his family. The highlight of his life was the birth of his two children, Greg and Marlana. He lived and worked to provide, care, and love his children and wife unconditionally and that love increased exponentially for his grand and great grandchildren. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed spending time fishing and hanging out with the boys in the front yard. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons play basketball, baseball, and soccer. He loved sports.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 56 years, Sylvia Washington Gallow of Lake Charles, LA; son, Greg (Veronica) Gallow of Houston, Tx; daughter, Marlana (Robert) Collins of Lake Charles, LA; five grandchildren, Ashanti Gallow, Alakyn Collins, Greg Gallow Jr., Quinton Collins, Skyla Gallow, and one great-grandchild, Chayse Guillory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Severine Gallow and two brothers, Issac and Edward Gallow.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Kings Funeral Home with a rosary beginning at 9:30 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with burial services following at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
