John Edward Garner, 70, of Ogden, Utah, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025. He grew up in Kansas City, KS, but spent 40 years in Utah.
John was cherished by his family. Survived by his son, Kevin John Garner; daughter-in-law, Jazell; stepsons, Tony, Rodney, and Kenny; grandchildren, Andre, Daren, Asley, Dylon, Aleigha, Aaron, and Kenya; sisters, Judy and Vicki; nieces, Nicole, Jennifer, Mary, and Jualee; nephews, Steven and Joshua; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He retired from the railroad salvage business but remained in close contact with his partner and in John’s view his brother, Mike Williams.
John was known for his generosity and positive attitude, and his contagious smile.
He graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
He was a loyal and devoted fan of Jayhawk football and especially Jayhawk Basketball - Rock Chawk Jayhawks – Go Ku!
John’s favorite pastime was fishing. He and his many friends would go as often as they could.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Vickie Garner; father, H. L. Garner, mother, Jualdean Garner, and his brother, Robert Garner.
John touched many lives and will be greatly missed!
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
