Carthage- John J. Gaughan Jr., died peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Samaritan Summit Village in Watertown, New York. He was born on February 5, 1936, in Brooklyn, NY to the late John Sr. & Mary (Sweeney) Gaughran.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday evening, April 25th at 7:00 pm with the Reverand, Todd Thibault, officiating in Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home Chapel at 500 State Street, Carthage, N.Y. A Burial with Military Honors will be held on Friday, April 26th, 12:00pm in the St. James Cemetery in Carthage.
He graduated from high school in Brooklyn. He served in the United States Army from September 1953- January 1958, he retired in 1995 as a Stone Setter with the local 84 in New York City.
He married Linda Dennis on November 1, 1980.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Gaughran; his daughter, Traci (John) Carmichael; his son, Bobby (Nina) Gaughran, Houstonic, Mass; and 6 grandchildren, Todd, Emily, Nicholas, Jacob, Katherine, and Mason. He is also survived by his children from a previous marriage, Marion Festa, John Gaughran lll., Mary (Edward) LaValle, Edward Gaughran, and Nancy Gaughran; and 11 grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents along with his siblings, Kathy, Mary and Pat.
John was a member of the St. James Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
