John was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on July 31st, 1959, a son of the late John Henry and Carrie Jackson Gilbert.
John was employed at the U.S. Forest Service where he worked for 48 years.
He is survived by his wife, Lesa Gilbert of 42 years.
He is also survived by his son John Nicholas and Heather; by three grandchildren: John Liam Gilbert, Jimma Rae Gilbert, and Xavier Bryan McConnell; by his brother and sister: Mike Gilbert and wife Mary and Carolan Hensley and husband Donny.
In addition to his parents, John Wayne is preceded in death by his two sisters: Vonda Hobbs and Debbie Gilbert; and by his brother: David Gilbert.
Services for John Wayne will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 20th, at Britton Funeral Home, with Brandon Hensley and Bobby Claybrook officiating. Burial will follow in the John Gilbert Cemetery in Big Creek.
Visitation for John Wayne will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, August 19th, at Britton Funeral Home.
