John Gilbert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davis-Turner Funeral Home on Oct. 1, 2025.
John Leroy Gilbert II, age 67, of Lynchburg passed away unexpectedly on September 20, 2025. He was born the son of Marlene Webster on September 20, 1958 in Cincinnati. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a man whose heart beat to the rhythm of music, and was known for his quiet and reserved nature, but John came alive when he was on stage, sharing his gift of music. A talented musician, John could play just about any instrument, guitar, keyboard, or drums. John also spent many years working in construction, where his hard work, dedication, and skill left a lasting impact on those he worked with. The skills he taught his family members during various projects he helped build are now precious memories. Outside of work and music, John enjoyed the peace of fishing trips, had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and loved his dogs. He also had an interest in collecting and shooting guns. John will be remembered for his quiet strength, his musical talent, and the moments of joy he brought to so many. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, John (Tonya) Gilbert of Hillsboro, Melissa Gilbert of Florida, Randeana (Dylan) Stewart of Wilmington, Dustin Melampy of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Kayla Thorn, Ryan Gilbert, Brittany Gosselin, Cara Gosselin, Lilly Gosselin, and Trenton Gosselin; Siblings Fred Gilbert of Goshen, Darlene Romans of Lynchburg, Philp Webster of Chillicothe, Mark Webster of Chillicothe and a host of other family and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Elsie Gilbert. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 1:00pm at Rest Haven Memorial Park, 10209 Plainfield Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio 45241 To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of John, please visit our floral store.
