Wayne Fenner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davis-Turner Funeral Home on Jan. 2, 2026.
Lyle Wayne Fenner, age 89, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025 at Ohio Living Quaker Heights in Waynesville. He was born the son of the late Joe and Lillian (Brown) Fenner on October 31, 1936 in Lynchburg. Wayne proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a hardworking man who spent 44 years employed as a supervisor at Siemens, where he was respected for his leadership and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he truly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting and spending time outdoors, took pride in his gardening, and could often be found playing a good game of euchre. He was talented with his hands and enjoyed making walking sticks. Known for his storytelling, he was a proud member of "The Liar's Club," always spinning a tale to get a laugh and keep everyone entertained, but always leaving you wondering if the story was true or not. His stories and sense of humor will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Wayne also enjoyed traveling, embracing new places and experiences whenever he had the chance. Whether at home or on the road, he valued good company, conversation, and making memories along the way. Wayne is survived by his wife, Wilma (Hawk) Fenner; his son, Lyle (Janet) Fenner; granddaughter, Maria (John) Ference; great-granddaughter, Margaret Ference; sister-in-law, Janet Holden; special niece Shari (Jay) Meyers; many nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, George Robert "Bobby Joe" Fenner and Weltha Zoe Norris and a close niece, Penny Ulrich. Visitation for Wayne will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2025 from 11:00am until time of service at 1:00pm at Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Burial will follow at Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery. Donations can be made in Wayne's name to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
