John Arthur "Johnny" Gilstrap

Mr. John Arthur Gilstrap, known affectionately as Johnny to his friends and family, entered into rest on April 1, 2024. Born on August 9, 1978, in Dahlonega, GA.
Johnny's journey began as the cherished son of Gerald Gilstrap and the late Cathy Chandler Gilstrap. His life was a testament to love, marked by his devoted marriage of nineteen years to his beloved wife, Ericka Stevens Gilstrap. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including sons John David, Hunter, and Justin, and daughter Katherine, who were the center of Johnny's world.
Johnny's legacy is also carried on by his brothers Jaime and Justin Gilstrap, his mother-in-law Lindia Stevens, sister-in-law Kellie Aguilar, and his adored nephews Mason, Matthew, and David Aguilar, niece Kerrie Gilstrap and grandmother-in-law Bobbie Stevens. He was preceded in death by his mother Cathy; grandmothers, Jimmie Chandler and Roberta Gilstrap; and father-in-law David Stevens.
Professionally, Johnny dedicated himself as a safety supervisor at Sunbelt Rentals, where his commitment to the well-being of others was evident. He was Baptist by faith and a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church.
An avid outdoorsman, Johnny's passions included hunting, fishing, and a love for horses. His enthusiasm for the GA Bulldogs was unmatched, and he shared countless joyful moments with friends and family cheering on his favorite team. Above all things, his favorite thing to do was spending time with his family, especially his children.
Johnny's adventurous spirit and loving heart defined him. He lived a life full of laughter, kindness, and cherished moments. His memory will be held dear in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Johnny's presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A visitation will be held on April 9, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home. His Service, being officiated by Rev. Charles Reese, will be held in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia on April 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with the interment to follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. The pallbearers for the services are John David Gilstrap, Hunter Gilstrap, Justin Gilstrap, Jared Barron, Jason Krecskay, Jimmy Allison, Lee Allison and Michael Stevens.
