John A. Giuliano
John A. Giuliano, 76, of Middletown, CT, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Monday, October 20, 2025, from ALS complications.
Born September 6, 1949, in Melilli, Sicily, Italy, John came to the U.S. in December 1955, with parents, Sebastian and Salvatrice "Lina" Giuliano. He attended St. Sebastian School and graduated from Middletown High School in 1968.
John worked at McCarthy & Hurley's and entered the U.S. Navy, serving in Cuba and the Panama Canal. After an honorable discharge, John worked at, and later purchased, the Robert B. Brainard Insurance Agency, with a career spanning 50 years. A 40-year volunteer of Middletown's WPCA, John also served as Chairman for many years.
John is survived by Janet, his wife of 52 years, children John (Erin), Justin (Connie), and Joy (Tim), grandchildren John (JJ), Madelyn (Maddy), Carmela and Alaina. He is also survived by his sister, Lynn, and extended family.
John was predeceased by his parents, in-laws, Al and Mary Girard, and brother-in-law/best friend, Lou Girard.
John loved traveling throughout Canada, Europe, particularly Melilli, and going to NYC to eat at his favorite restaurant, Forlini's. He enjoyed many trips with brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lou and Pat. John was grateful to take an Honor Flight to Washington, DC, with his fellow Veterans. John also relished cooking for family, friends, and "the guys".
Besides family, John leaves many friends, including, in no particular order, Seb C, Mike D, Keith V, Bill M, Al S, Ron L, Dale A, John M, Phil P, and others whom he met for breakfast or coffee. John's family is extremely grateful for "the guys" help and support during his illness. We also thank neighbors, Lucy, Mark, Peter, Bruce, and Efren, for their help and support as well.
We are grateful to Dr. Michael Spada, the VA's ALS team, the Hospital for Special Care's ALS team, Masonicare, and Middlesex Hospital Hospice Unit.
