John Stephen Golden 7/13/1964-01/22/2024
John Stephen Golden, 59, unexpectedly passed away in his residence in Shady Shores, Texas, on Monday, January 22nd, 2024.
John was born on July 13, 1964, in Dallas, Texas. Shortly after, he moved to California and was raised under the union of Walter and Judith Golden. John received his education at El Dorado High School in Placentia, California, where he excelled in sports like baseball, cross country, and track. After graduating in 1983, he attended Fullerton College before beginning his career at Price Club and Sav-On, where he formed enduring friendships, including with Amanda Stice. In 1998, John and Amanda's journey led them to Lewisville, Texas, to be close to John's mother, Linda Henderson-Johnson, and where they welcomed their beloved daughter, Haley Golden.
Upon moving to Texas, John was recruited to work at Costco in Houston, Texas, by his previous supervisor at Price Club. John's career also took him to San Antonio and then back to Lewisville. In 2006, he established roots in Lake Dallas. While Haley was off at college, John spent most of his time at his favorite hangouts, Chilitos, Gentis, and Walter's, where he shared laughs and passions with friends, relishing in sports, bingo, poker, and the camaraderie of the community. In 2019, a new chapter began as John embraced life's surprises when he was transferred to the Costco in Southlake, Texas, where he found love and companionship with Julia Northorp. Together, they created a home in Shady Shores, Texas, where their love blossomed and flourished. John will forever be best remembered for his outgoing personality and his contagious "SpongeBob" laugh.
John is survived by his mom, Linda Henderson-Johnson; his fiance, Julia Northorp; daughter Haley Golden; her mother Amanda "Mandy" Stice and her husband Noah "Will" Stice; sister Kathy "Kat" Golden; and sister Cecelia "Cece" Golden-Timmons. John is also survived by many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends who all loved him deeply.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Judith Golden; sister Suzanne Golden; and brother William Golden. John's spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
His family wishes to honor his memory by having a celebration of life on February 2, 2024.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., following an 11:00 a.m. service at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 740 S. Edmonds Ln. in Lewisville.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to: Northview Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 1981 N Mill St, Lewisville, Texas 75057.
