John "Jack" William Gorczyca, 80, of Eagle, Idaho went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 24, 2025, with his wife by his side, after battling COPD, congestive heart failure and emphysema.
Jack Gorczyca was born to John Walter Gorczyca and Anne Gorczyca on March 14, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from Edison High School and also attended the University of Minnesota.
Jack honorably served his country in the United States Army as a Sergeant E-5 from 1965 to 1968. He served in the Vietnam War in the 1st Cavalry Airmobile Division as a crew chief on a helicopter. He enjoyed a 30-year career in law enforcement with the Minneapolis Police Department as a patrolman, Sergeant and detective working the street, 911 Communications Center, Forgery Fraud, among other units.
Jack met his bride-to-be at the Hennepin County Government Center where she was a court reporter. He was united in marriage to Melanie Brown on April 6, 1984, at the Baptist church in Minnetonka, Minnesota. They spent the last 20 years of their marriage retired in Eagle, Idaho.
It was Jacks belief that only through Jesus Christ could anyone ever achieve salvation, and it was that belief that directed his life; for we live by faith, not by sight. When his health allowed, he enjoyed attending church and being active in a variety of roles. His family and friends gave him so much joy.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Melanie Gorczyca and stepbrother Robert Duda Patrick. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Gorczyca and Anne Gorczyca Patrick.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, specifically their National Law Enforcement Ministry, at Billy Graham.org or 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201.
