John Gorham Obituary
John (Jack) Francis Gorham, 97, of Weymouth MA and formerly of Hull, MA passed away on December 15, 2023, in the company of his family. He was born in Braintree, MA on January 17, 1926, to the late Elmer and Helen (Payson) and was one of nine children. After serving honorably as Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army, Jack and his wife, Barbara, started their life together in Quincy, eventually relocating to Hull where they raised their nine children. Jack was a loving and devoted family man. He was a retired member of the AFSCME Local 1395 after working as a custodian in the Hull School Department for 20 years and worked multiple second jobs to provide for his family.
Jack is predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara (Beatey) of 73 years, his son, Scott, and seven siblings. He is survived by his daughter Deborah Moore and her husband Allen, son John and his wife Paula, son Douglas and his partner Deirdre Kahler, son Michael and his wife Meg, son Geoffrey, son Alan and his wife Debbie, daughter Kim Donnellan and her husband Frank, daughter Amy Langan, twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, and his sister Claire Cleggett and her husband Billy.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday January 24th, 2024, from 5pm-7pm at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel 21 Pond Street Hingham MA, 02043. Burial will take place on Thursday January 25th, 2024, at 10:15am at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack can be made to the D.A.V. or the Salvation Army.
