John R. Gossert, 70, of Chambersburg, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, at his home. Born August 30, 1955, in Waynesboro, PA, he was a son of the late Wallace W. and Myrtle P. Kline Gossert.

John was a 1974 graduate of CASHS. He was employed as a transportation supervisor at Martin’s Famous Potato Rolls and Bread in Chambersburg for 30 years until his retirement in 2013. John was a member of New Franklin Assembly of God. He enjoyed hunting, racing, traveling and flying after he earned his pilot’s license. John also enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth denHartog Gossert of Chambersburg; one daughter, Laura E. Gossert of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Cassidy Russell, Anias Russell, and Raven Eder; one brother-in-law; and three sisters-in-law. Aside from his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce E. Gossert; three brothers, Wallace W. Gossert, Jr., David Gossert and Timothy Gossert; and one sister, Pauline Burkett.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 16, 2026, at New Franklin Assembly of God, 2355 New Franklin Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Nathaniel Knoll will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Fetterhoff Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
