John Grappone, 77, passed away at home on October 8, 2022 after a long illness with his wife of 29 years, Mary and family at his side. John was born in Brooklyn NY on September 10, 1945 to the late John and Angelina (nee Lombardi). He had two sisters Gloria Francheschi (deceased) and Marie Mauer.
He spent the majority of his life as a New York City Resident until 2012 when he and Mary retired to Sun City in Bluffton SC. He was a graduate of Fordham University (1988) and the Pace University School of Law (1992). John was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
In his professional career, he was a member of the New York State Bar, an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx District Attorney's Office in NYC and an Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Trials in the New York City Police Department.
He is survived by his sister Marie and her husband Anthony Mauer, nephews Louis Francheschi and his wife Rebecca, Anthony Mauer and his wife Michelene, Christopher Mauer and great nephews Brandon, Anthony and Mason and great niece Taylor. He is also survived by three sisters in law and their spouses, John and Ellen Mc Andris, Ted and Dee Koenig and Barbara O'Gorman, and two brothers in law and their spouses, James and Judy O'Brien, Michael O'Brien, and nephews and nieces and their spouses John and Janet Mc Andris, Paul and Christine Doherty, Lee and Cyndee Harrison and Paul Denis and Eddie Reiter.
Internment will be at 11:00 am on November 3rd at the U. S. National Cemetery in Beaufort SC. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton SC.
