John Ray Grause born March 3rd,1961 passed away peacefully at his home on September 19, 2025.
Much of John’s life was spent in Humboldt, Iowa. While attending Humboldt High School, John was active in athletics and Key Club. John worked at the legendary Dueseyberger Restaurant. Upon graduation, John attended Iowa State University. After his college days, John moved to Florida where he worked in the food and beverage industry. After several years in Florida, service called him to assist a close friend and her family. In 2003, John returned to his home state of Iowa where he spent time with family, attending many events of nieces and nephews. John was the life of a party! For example, dressing up as a banana at The Orange Bowl and a pirate at basketball games. Following his retirement from Barilla, he returned to his family home where he was caregiver to his mother until her passing. John loved to travel and was hugely generous. As a leader and advocating voice, John devoted much of his life to The LGBTQ community and the Democratic Party. He was instrumental in starting The Pride Organization in Humboldt County, which led to the Democrats receiving an award. As witnessed by anyone who visited his home, John continued the family tradition of amazing floral creations. He was an avid reader and loved public libraries. John leaves behind siblings: Dan Grause, Jane Astor, Julie Hendricks, (Gary), Jill Jergens, Don Grause, Jacqueline Daniels, Mike Grause, Michelle Allen, and Steven Grause, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his mother and father, grandparents, and sister Sue White, sister in-law Cindy Grause and brothers in law Curt White, Jeff Astor, and Randy Jergens. John was dearly loved and will be truly missed.
