John Alonzo Gray, age 75 of Buchanan, passed away peacefully Monday, December 29, 2025.  Born in Hahira, Georgia, on March 10, 1950, he was the son of the late Alonzo Gray and the late Betty Obery Gray.  In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sutton Gray and his siblings, Gracie, Sue, and Wayne.

John worked for many years as welder.  An avid gardener with a green thumb, he grew beautiful vegetables that he shared with family and friends.  In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, and sitting under his "tree shade."  Family was important to John and his grandchildren were the apple of his eye.

Left to cherish his memories are his sons and daughters-in-law: Scott & Amanda Gray of Cedartown, Eddie & Julie Gray of Buchanan, and Brian & David Gray of Brilliant, Alabama; his precious grandchildren: Levi & Mackenzie Gray, Lexi & Cody Summerville, Edward & Nicole Gray, Haley & Nathaniel Gottschalk, Austin & Jacyne Iacono; John & Taylor Iacono; Stephen & Hannah Gray, and Brilynn & Blake Overton; and his great-grandchildren: River, Remmie, Peyton, Savannah, Waylon, Elias, Malachi, Charlotte, Addyson, Jesse, Willow, Dutton, Georgie, Emerson, Brixton, Stephen, Taylin, Aurora, Corbin, and Hutson.

Funeral services for John Gray will be conducted Friday, January 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Preacher Johnny Hightower officiating.  Mr. Gray will be laid to rest next to his wife at Powder Springs Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from Noon until 2:00 PM.
