Dr. John W. Greiert, age 72 of Shawano, was called home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday evening, May 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous eleven-year battle with Parkinsons Disease.
John was born April 30, 1952, in
Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, a son of Walter and Dorothy (Tuttle) Greiert. The Greiert family moved to Green Bay in June of 1952, then moved to Madison in November of 1958. John graduated from Madison East High School with the Class of 1970. He earned his B.S. degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee in 1976 and graduated from Marquette Dental School in 1983. John was an excellent golfer. While in high school, he was a three-year letter winner. John was also a three-year letter winner while playing golf at Marquette University. He went on to win a Wisconsin Regional Amateur Tournament at Lake Wisconsin in 1977. Not only did John love golfing, but he was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting. He was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Wisconsin Badgers, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Golf was not the only talent John excelled in. He had a marvelous voice and loved to sing. One of his greatest performances was a duet he sang with his daughter, Rachel, at her wedding. John also shared his musical talents with his daughter, Rosalind, and supported her music career. He attended many of her shows with her band. But John's greatest passion was spending time with his grandchildren, Emerson, Elise, Micah, and Maelin.
