John R. Hansen

John R. Hansen, 95, proud Air Force Veteran, of Lyons, formerly of LaGrange, passed away on December 27, 2025; devoted husband of the late Laverne (nee Knight) Hansen; loving father of Edward, Eric Hansen and Margaret Hansen-Hyman; proud grandfather of Jonathan and Eric Hansen, Brittany (Randy) Ramos, Joshua, and Matthew Hyman; loving great-grandfather of Hayden Lloyd Ramos; dear brother-in-law of Edward Knight and Peggy Hansen, and fond uncle of many.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Laura Hansen; and his siblings, Laura, Harold, and Richard (survived by wife, Peggy) Hansen.

John will be best remembered for his love of beekeeping. Through this passion, he mentored, partnered, and shared his knowledge with all whom he met. His decades of experience and generosity will leave a lasting impact on the local beekeeping community.

Memorial Visitation: Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside.
Memorial Service: Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Family and friends are then invited to meet for committal prayers and inurnment at 11:45 a.m. at the chapel of St. Mary Cemetery, 87th St. & S. Hamlin Ave., Evergreen Park. Please arrive and check in at the cemetery office when you first arrive.
