John F. Hansen, 76 passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN.

John was born March 23, 1949 to Violet (Simonson) and Francis Hansen.

He was a US Army veteran working as a registered nurse for 22 years and then worked as an English Professor at St. Scholastica until retirement.

John was united in marriage to Elsie Rampier on February 10, 1990, at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church in Superior.

John was a member of the Cathedral of Christ the King and Holy Assumption in Superior. He was a Eucharistic minister and taught bible school for many years at Holy Assumption. John was very faithful and attended mass religiously. He was very generous giving to many different organizations, including his church, the Cathedral School, and the Salvation Army to name a few.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Elsie, and his siblings.

Survivors include his step-sons, Brian (Michele) Miesbauer, Jeffrey (Tina) Miesbauer, Darrin (Mary) Miesbauer; step-grandchildren, Misty (JT) Diehl, Hollie (Mark Maynard) Miesbauer, Kylie (Michael) O'Neal, Ryan (Kelsey) Miesbauer, and Justin (Morgan) Miesbauer; step-grandchildren, Nick (Brittany) Ploffenburger; step great grandchildren, Liam, Jack, Kameron, Westin, Kaden, and Kinsley; sisters in-laws, Ann Mau, and Jean (Ray) Saari; brother in-law, William Rampier and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 1111 Belknap Ave., Superior, WI, with Fr. Andrew Ricci officiating.

Interment will be in the Spooner Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in John's name to either Cathedral School, 1419 Baxter Ave., Superior or to the Salvation Army, 916 Hughitt Ave., Superior, WI 54880.

Arrangements by Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N 34th St., Superior, WI.
