John Robert Harbin, 57, of Pelzer, SC, passed away on February 8, 2024. He was born on January 28, 1967, at home during a blizzard in Chicago, Illinois. John, known as "Baptist" in the Upstate motorcycle community, was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and an Ordained minister. He found solace in worship and reading the Bible. He cherished his time with God on his Harley Davidson bikes and the many rides with his wife "Baptist Babe".
John had numerous jobs, from installing guardrails in Florida and Alabama to operating heavy machinery, CDL truck driving, and running a landscaping business. He was also a talented musician, songwriter, and lead guitarist, founding the band "Slum Jack."
John's passions included music, motorcycles, and worshipping God. He was a goat farmer who adored his GOATZ FARM herd. John was described as loving, funny, and grateful for his many blessings.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen Mahan Harbin, daughter Robin Nicole Wright (William), granddaughter Kestrel Alexandria Wright, sister Elizabeth Harbin Nichter, brothers Hugh Preston Harbin Jr, and Gregory Alan Harbin (Michele), several nieces and nephews, and his best friend and "brother" Emanuel Allan Lyons. John was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Ann Russell Harbin, and father, Hugh Preston Harbin Sr.
A visitation and memorial service will be held graveside at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Hwy 29N Anderson SC at 2 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Motorcycles are very welcome. Flowers may be delivered to the office at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 2609 US-29, Anderson, SC 29621.
