John "Jack" Franklyn Haug, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 29, 2024, in Jefferson City, MO.
Born on June 12, 1940, in Granite City, IL, Jack was the son of Charles and Vivian Haug. He grew up with his siblings Margaret, Robert, Charlie, and Carl. On August 24, 1963, Jack married his beloved wife Betty, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage. They welcomed their son, Dan, in 1968.
Jack earned a degree in teaching from SIUE and initially worked as an english and history teacher before transitioning to a guidance counselor, from which he retired in 1996. In retirement, Jack and Betty moved to Jefferson City, where they devoted themselves to being doting grandparents to Abbey, Alli, and Lexy.
Jack is survived by his son Dan Haug of Jefferson City, MO; granddaughters Abbey (Mason) of St. Louis, MO, Alli (Chris) of Springfield, MO, and Lexy (Zach) of Jefferson City, MO; his brother Charlie Haug; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Vivian Haug, his siblings Margaret, Robert, and Carl, and his wife Betty.
Jack's greatest joy came from attending sporting events with Betty, where they cheered on their son and granddaughters. He also cherished visits from the family dogs, often claiming them as his own. Jack lived a full and happy life centered on his faith and family.
A private family service will be held.
