John R. Hefele, Jr.
(July 18, 1938 – June 19, 2024)
John R. Hefele, Jr., 85, of Chatham Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024, after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family.
After growing up in Yonkers, NY, John attended Manhattan College, where he majored in Psychology. He then had a long and successful career in telecommunications. He worked for AT&T, Western Electric, and Lucent Technologies in various roles, including recruiting, financial analysis, and sales forecasting.
Outside of his professional life, John was deeply devoted to his wife, family, and church. He was a devoted husband and tireless caregiver to his wife of over 63 years, Florence. They both moved to Chatham in 1976 to raise their two sons, Richard and Christopher. John was also an active member of the Corpus Christi Parish community.
Known for his energetic and outgoing personality, John connected with people everywhere he went. His hearty "hello!", firm handshake, friendly nature and tall stature made him memorable to all who met him. He will be sorely missed.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Florence Hefele; his brother, Paul Hefele; his sons, Richard Hefele and Christopher Hefele; and his four cherished grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 12 PM to 2 PM on Sunday, June 23, at Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Chatham, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 24, at 10 AM at Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Boulevard, Chatham, NJ. Burial will be private.
