John L. Hefling

John L. Hefling, 88, a lifelong Mount Clemens resident, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in the comfort of his home.

He was born November 2, 1937, in Mount Clemens, the son of the late Gerald and Marion (Wolverton) Hefling.

As a young man, John very proudly and honorably served his country as a United States Marine during peacetime. When he returned home, he married Norene F. Keil on June 25, 1960 at St. Louis Catholic Church.

John inherited Mt. Clemens Packing Company and ran the family business for over 52 years. In the 1990's the business transitioned from wholesale to retail and became known as Hefling's Amish Farm Market in Clinton Township. He loved being a business owner, cutting meat, and providing the community with quality meats and food products. John had a strong faith and love for Jesus and his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 65 years Norene, are two daughters, Tracy Anne and Susan Marie both of Mount Clemens; a granddaughter, Stephanie Marie (Toni) Schepke of Roseville; and two great-grandsons, Lennon and Aherlow Schepke; siblings, James Hefling, David (Theresa) Hefling, and Mary (Kerry) Hicks. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joseph Hefling.

Rite of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
