John Higham Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Saul Colonial Home on Oct. 21, 2025.
John "Jack" Higham, 84, of Hamilton Square, New Jersey, peacefully passed away on October 17, 2025, due to pancreatic cancer. Born in Trenton in 1941 and raised on Kuser Road in Hamilton Township, John made Hamilton Square his home from 1968 onward. Beginning in 1955 and continuing through 2002, he spent every summer at his parents' house in Seaside Park, a place that shaped his love of the shore and created a lifetime of happy family memories.
In 1965, John married the love of his life, Linda (née Embley). Together they built a warm and steady life, wintering in the Florida Keys, where John enjoyed simple pleasures like fishing and peaceful sunsets with friends. He especially cherished time spent watching his granddaughter, Marissa, perform ballet; those recitals were among his proudest moments.
A graduate of Pennington Prep, John served in the National Guard from 1962 to 1968. He began his career as a Tool and Die Maker in the Model Shop at the RCA David Sarnoff Research Center in Princeton, dedicating 23 years to precise, and exacting work. Later he pursued his passion for engines and the water, spending 25 years as an outboard mechanic where customers trusted his patient, steady hands and mechanical skill.
John had a remarkable talent for understanding and repairing mechanical devices. Over the years, he restored several cars and took special pride in his 1961 red Chevrolet Corvette. Since 2010, he was an active member of the Robbinsville Hot Rod Club, where he was always ready to help fellow members troubleshoot mechanical issues.
John is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, John; his daughter-in-law, Christine; and his beloved granddaughter, Marissa. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mildred, and his sister, Diane.
Those who knew John will remember his craftsmanship and his ability to make complex things seem simple. His legacy lives on in the machines he brought back to life, the family he adored, and the friends he helped along the way.
