John F. Hilliard, 77, of Crossville, Tennessee went to meet his Lord and Savior on
Wednesday, September 10, 2025. He was born on July 16, 1948 to the late
Robert and Selma Hilliard.
John was a 1966 graduate of Monroe High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy for
four years.
On November 25, 1983 he married his best friend, Sue Ann. They were married
42 wonderful years. John worked 30 years for the City of Monroe, Department of
Public Services as a heavy equipment operator. Following his retirement with the
city, he and Sue Ann moved to Tennessee to enjoy their retirement years
surrounded by waterfalls, mountains and their little piece of paradise. He was a
member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Crossville Tennessee. John
enjoyed 50-60 music, karaoke, dancing, reading his bible and watching the Detroit
Tigers and Detroit Lions. John was certainly a quiet man, never speaking ill of
anyone.
John is survived by his wife, Sue Ann, 2 daughters; Julie Gemmel (Mike) and Jodi
Williams. 3 stepchildren: Brian Georgia (Hilary), Todd Georgia (Jennifer), and
Kerri Lyn Georgia. Brother; Michael Hilliard (Carrie), Sisters; Bonnie Tolen (Jim),
Barbara Smith (Karl), eighteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jammie Walters, brother
Larry Hilliard and sister-in-law Allie Hilliard.
He will forever be remembered for the soft-spoken man he was and the kindness
he showed towards others. John is now the guardian angel for all those he loved
so very much. Rest peacefully in heaven faithful and loving servant.
Hood Funeral Home, Crossville Tennessee will be taking care of funeral
arrangements.
