John Frank Hodos Jr. age 83, of Pittsford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on July 11, 1939, in Detroit, to John Sr. and Helen (Kuchno) Hodos. He married Lucy Lea Rhoades on July 29, 1965, and she survives.
John graduated from Pittsford High School before going on to serve his country in the United States Army. He worked most of his life at Hillsdale Tool while also running the family farm and raising three children. John's family was the most important thing to him. He enjoyed family trips up north and quality time on the farm with loved ones and his animals.
John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lucy; three children, Lisa (John) Taylor of Osseo, Shawn (Melanie) Hodos of North Carolina, and Steve (Heather) Hodos of Hillsdale; six grandchildren, Paul, Alisha, Travis, Xavier, Amanda, and Brendan; nine great-grandchildren, Martin, Mickey, Munro, Watson, Annabelle, Adeline, Leonor, Sophia, and Johnny; and one sister Sue (Michael) Benner.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank, and Martin Hodos and a granddaughter Mary Siebert.
John was a selfless, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed and always remembered by all who knew him. He will forever be in our hearts.
A Mass of Christian burial for John Hodos Jr. will take place Thursday, February 16, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hudson with Fr. Todd Koenigsknecht officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Leonardson Cemetery in Pittsford. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Make a Wish Foundation or the Hillsdale County 4-H. Arrangements are entrusted to VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
