John L. Holmes

Memorial service for John L. Holmes age 78 of Eva will be Friday, February 13, 2026, at 6:00pm at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Andy Heis officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00pm until service time on Friday at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Holmes, who was born January 13, 1948, in Morgan County to Emern Argus Holmes Sr. and Viola Clyde Maddux Holmes, died on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at his home.

He retired after 35 years from Monsanto Chemical Company where he worked as a Quality Lab Technician and then worked for 15 years as a groundskeeper for the Town of Eva. He was born in Eva and grew up on a farm and knew and loved the Eva Community. He loved the outdoors and everything about it, from gardening, to bird watching to enjoying the beautiful sunsets. John loved many things but most especially his wife and his girls and his grandchildren. He was a coach for his girls and always supported them in whatever they endeavored to do.

John and Regena started dating in the 10th grade at Eva High School and have been together for 62 years.
